Balmoral.

Balmoral 2013.

Sea, salt, sand.

Mum's 80's worn and torn denim cut offs,

Christmas Day.

I know I have done the Christmas post thing to death.
But just one more.
What I wore on Christmas day when I was expecting a hot summers day but was instead greeted with a cold rainy day.

A vintage find, a dress of red & blue & berries, a bow and some suede seemed fitting.

I've been dreaming of a...(Pt. 2)

Early Happy Birthday to me!
A Benah bag which has been lusted after muchly & a liquid silk Sara Phillips playsuit (thank god for sample sales!). The problem with Benah is, that once I've started I'm finding it hard to stop.
Whether to go back tomorrow or not?

Saturdays.

Weekend outfits are always made of something else.
Like a well worn in grey tee & my year 10 formal skirt from yonders ago.

Made by local designer Susan Ottawa this skirt is everything I love about textiles. Layers and working in and out of each other and lace and silk and did I mention layers? Cloth upon cloth upon stitch upon stitch, story upon story. Like there is something waiting within the folds.

Sweets.

And continuing on with the food feast that was last Sunday, after  brunch at The Carrington and pies pies pies, we discovered some sweet finds rummaging in the teeny tiny hole-in-the-wall kind of store that is Chris on Crowns and then stopped off for some sweets of the Greek variation at Hellenic Bakery.

Chris on King: 527 King St, Newtown.
Think walking into someones house hoarded with goodies and all weird and wonderful things from their life past. Photos, cups & saucers, books, and delicate pieces of jewelry. Now take all of that and have it explode into one small room.
That is Chris on King.

For the love of discovering hidden treasures.

Let them eat pie.

Continuing our feast after The Carrington we rolled down to Bourke Street Bakery for their amazing pies.

And yet again I say
nomnomnom.

Happy Birthday KK.

Photos one to four// KK by me.
Photos five to seven// me by KK.

Celebrate a best mates birthday in her typical style.
Think midnight backstreet photo whoring,
gold sequin skirts with a cut Adidas tee,
necklace upon necklace upon necklace
plus some arm armor
and a bindi.

I'm in an outfit mainly made from inherited goods & preworns.
Skirt by me from an aunt's left over lace from her ballet costume design days, a ring passed along by another aunt,
leather clutch inherited from my nan, op shop find shoes,
& Zara top (with an awesome open back! shame it can't be seen in these pics - next time!)

All after an awesome dinner at Essenza.

Happy birthday KK, to one of my nearest and dearest.

On the Road (again).

Grandma's leather notebook clutch, op shop denim, Topshop wet look jeans, vintage boots.

Went to see On the Road on the weekend.

Home in Missoula,
Home in Truckee,
Home in Opelousas,
Ain't no home for me.
Home in old Medora,
Home in Wounded Knee,
Home in Ogallala,
Home I'll never be.

                                    - Jack Kerouac, On the Road.

For the love of the unknown.

Quiet

Lunch at my grandmothers. Grace's cauliflower and spice soup. Susie's flowers. Draped fishtail skirts. Pixie boots. Big heels. Maastricht flea market cup and saucer. Postcards. A photo from when I was young. The Blue House.

Wear & worn.

Wear & worn.
Stained shirts and fraying hems. Cuffed sleeves & embroidered collars. Mum's shirt hand embroidered by her sister in their youth. An 80s western found in the depths of the op-shop racks. Grace's necklace passed along to her granddaughter. A necklace found in the dressup box.
